Acidity and Volume of Gastro Contents on the First Week of Life

Abstract
|
|
|
1) During the first week of life, acidity and volume of gastric contents were investigated in 297 cases of new torn Korean infants.
2) In acidity, although it showed to be nearly neutralat birth, it turned rapidly acid. ana the strong acidity continued for about 18 hours. The mots triking change of acidity was seen in the first 2hours of life.
3) The volume of the gastric contents´ obtained varied from 0.5 ml. to 10.0 ml.
4) The acidity was not correlated with the weight at birth, and it represented a constant change regardless of varied weight at birth.
5) And the acidity seemed not to be correlated with the volume of the gastric contents
